Hermes plugin that picks reasoning effort per prompt with a fast judge.

Automated README summary

Automatically summarized from the README on 18 Oct 2026; not a run by jevbooks. Run instructions and author-reported outcomes still need verification.

What it is

A Hermes Agent plugin, ported from effortless for Claude Code, that reads each user prompt once per turn and rewrites the request's reasoning-effort setting so easy questions run cheap and hard jobs get high effort.

How it uses Jev

On the first request of each turn, an llm_request middleware sends the next user message (up to 4000 chars) plus a short context excerpt (up to 1600 chars) to TypeSafe Jev at api.typesafe.ai/v1/systemone. Jev's verdict picks the effort, which is written into existing reasoning-effort carriers in provider kwargs; retries reuse the cached verdict.

Primitives:choice

Technique worth stealing

Judge once per turn, cache the verdict, and only rewrite effort carriers the provider already uses so the prompt-cache prefix and model stay intact.

Try it

Install as a Hermes plugin; run /effortless to see verdicts or /effortless test to try both judges.

Model judgments from README excerpts

Project signals use repository metadata, an existing summary and the first 700 README characters, not the full project. “Not found” means not detected in that material; it does not establish absence. These are the original judgments with recorded models and dates, not source audits or run results.

Evidence

These signals use repository metadata, an existing summary and at most 700 cleaned README characters. ≥ 0.60 means reported in that excerpt; ≤ 0.40 means not found there. The middle band is inconclusive. None is a source-code audit or a test result. The runnable-tool question excludes research experiments; the recommendation question asks for a learning shortlist, not a quality verdict.
